Poland and Canada have signed a letter of intent for the sale of Polish-made FlyEye, Warmate, and Gladius drone systems to the Canadian Armed Forces, deepening defence-industrial cooperation between the two countries under the European Union's SAFE financing program.
The agreement was signed during a visit to Canada by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Canadian Defence Minister David J. McGuinty, outlining cooperation under the EU's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) initiative. All three systems — combat-tested extensively in Ukraine — are manufactured by WB Group, Poland's second-largest arms company.
The FlyEye is a mini reconnaissance drone used for day-and-night intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. Warmate is a loitering munition system capable of engaging armoured vehicles and infantry, deployable as both a man-portable and vehicle-integrated system. Gladius is a fully integrated reconnaissance-strike system pairing FT-5 tactical drones with precision strike effectors in a single network-centric platform.
The letter of intent follows Poland's own record-setting domestic order: in May 2026, Poland's Armament Agency signed contracts worth what WB Group describes as the largest procurement of unmanned reconnaissance-strike capabilities in Polish and European history, covering more than 400 Warmate systems, nearly 200 FlyEye units, and 12 Gladius battery-level fire units for the Polish Armed Forces.
"We have just returned from Canada, where the Canadian side declared its intention to procure aerial unmanned systems from WB GROUP," said Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Poland's government plenipotentiary for the SAFE instrument, at a signing ceremony in Ożarów Mazowiecki. The Canada-Poland drone agreement builds on the strategic partnership announced during Prime Minister Mark Carney's August 2025 visit to Warsaw, which committed both countries to expand cooperation across defence, trade, and energy.
