Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's export credit agency and a Crown corporation, will open a new representation office in Warsaw in 2026, giving Canadian exporters a dedicated in-market team to help them access Poland's fast-growing economy.
Poland has emerged as Canada's largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union. EDC says the new Warsaw team will help Canadian companies identify opportunities and build new pathways for business in sectors including defence, energy, critical minerals, technology, and infrastructure — areas central to Poland's own economic and security priorities.
Canadian exporters doing business in Poland already benefit from the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which has eliminated the vast majority of tariffs between Canada and EU member states, including Poland, since it came into provisional effect in 2017.
The Warsaw office builds on the momentum from the enhanced Canada-Poland strategic partnership announced in August 2025 during Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to Warsaw, which committed both countries to deepen cooperation on trade, defence, and energy. EDC's expanded presence gives Canadian businesses — from established exporters to first-time entrants — a local resource to navigate Poland's regulatory environment, connect with local partners, and access financing and insurance solutions tailored to the market.
For Canada's Polish-Canadian business community, the announcement adds a practical, on-the-ground channel to a relationship that has largely been driven at the government-to-government level, potentially opening new doors for entrepreneurs and companies with ties to Poland.
