Toronto’s Housing Market Holds Its Breath

According to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board, 5,040 homes were sold across the GTA in September, 9 percent fewer than a year earlier. The average price fell 5.1 percent to $1,006,409, and condo prices dropped 7.7 percent.

Buyers want more confidence about jobs and inflation before they commit. The Bank of Canada held its key rate at 2.25 percent, but some economists now expect rate increases in the coming months.
